2 Study
Monday – Thursday
18:00 – 20:00 Girls ~ Study Rooms – Gr. 8 – 11 (Boys leave 20:10).
- Gr. 12 late study with teacher permission.
- Learners wake-up earlier for additional study.
- Compulsory weekend study, for learners staying in.
3 Inspection
During inspection done by the supervisor:
- duties as duty program indicates.
- duties to be completed by 06:30 (passages and bathrooms).
- locker open – packed neatly.
- doors open.
- bed made neatly.
- room swept and generally neat.
- pelmets, locker door etc. clean.
4 Study Rooms
- Learners bring enough work to keep them busy for duration of study.
- Learners sit on allocated chairs.
- Absolute silence.
- Room must be neat before leaving.
- No eating/drinking allowed.
5 Dining Hall
- All students must report at assembly with ID card.
- Assemble outside; Grade 12’s to walk in first after prayer.
- Remove cutlery and plate, clean space after use.
- Absolute order – table manners!
- Decent clothing is a requirement – no uniform at supper.
- No eating with hands allowed – use cutlery.
- Two (2) slices of bread at a time to be taken – although NO restriction if still hungry.
- No pushing in rows allowed in the hall (strict).
- No caps/hats in dining hall.
- Use cup with saucer always.
6 Visits to Clinic
- Report at school office during school day to obtain a letter of permission.
- Matron informs parents if necessary.
- Learner leave clinic only with permission from matron.
- General regulations as determined by matron.
7 Weekend signing out (Thursday nights during study)
- Learners sign out on Thursday evenings at study.
- Complete meal list for Friday lunch.
- Supervisors submit register and cards/lists on Friday to admin.
8 Doctors appointments
- Parents arrange and organize transport.
- Student to inform supervisor on duty.
9 Visits
- Visitors only allowed from 15:30 to 16:30. Parents may visit students any time with prior arrangement with teacher on duty.
- No visiting in vehicles, in hostel rooms or at hostel windows are permitted.
10 Code of Conduct
- Transgressions of hostel rules will be dealt with similar to the format being used during school hours – merit and de-merit system.
- Hostel rules available to all students and signed for receival.
11 Security
- Main gate closes at 18:00 and will be opened at 06:00.
- Hostels to be locked after study.
12 General
- Friday afternoons – all windows closed, lockers locked, lights switched off, taps closed, etc.
- Electrical leads are NOT permitted.
- Radios may not be heard outside the rooms (consider other learners).
- General clothing must be neat and appropriate according to circumstances.
- Damages due to negligence will be paid for by the student/parents.
- Learners may use their own blankets, duvets etc. but not own curtains.
- No pictures against walls allowed.
- Learners may not change from rooms without permission from supervisor.
- Teacher on duty is always available on his/her duty day/weekend.
- Nobody is allowed to prepare any meals in the hostels.
- No heaters allowed.
- No washing or bathing in hostel rooms.
13 Weekends
- Learners who want to stay in during open weekends, have to pay a fee as determined by the SGB at the office on or before a Wednesday prior to the weekend.
- Weekend stay-in list to be confirmed on Wednesday prior to weekend.
14 Important
- Learners will not be allowed to enter the hostels later than 17:30 on Sunday evenings. The main gate will be locked by 18:00 and roll call will be taken to ensure that all boarders have arrived.
- Boarders will not be allowed to return on Monday mornings without any arrangements.
